CASES OF GYNECOMASTIA CAUSED BY CHROMOSOMAL ANOMALY




Abstract
Gynecomastia is the excessive development of the male mammary glands due to hormonal imbalance basically. it developes from various etiologies including endogenous hormonal imbalance, exogenous hormone and drug therapy, neoplasms, hypogonadism including Klinefelter¢¥s syndrome, and systemic diseases.
We have experienced 4 cases of gynecomastia associated with chromosomal anomaly for last 2 years. 3 cases were Klinefelter"s syndrome and I case was 46, XX.
All the cases had feminine type breast, fatty subcutaneous tissue, and revealed hormonal imbalance. Some cases showed axillary and pubic hairs. of feminine type Semen analysis revealed azospermia in one case.
Klinefelter¢¥s syndrome is the most common cause of male hypogonadism, and the incidence of the breast cancer is incresed to the level of female.
Thus we report cases of gynecomastia associated with chromosomal anomaly and literature reviewed Klinefelter¢¥s syndrome and 46, XX
All the plastic surgeon keep in mind that they could have other serious problems besides the esthetic aspect.
